James Michels

Jim Michels founded Engineering Enterprises, Inc. in 1974 and during that time he has managed the planning, design and construction services of a wide variety of water works, wastewater, transportation, floodway, floodplain and stormwater management projects. He has served as technical advisor to the Illinois Department of Transportation/Division of Water Resources Stormwater Management Advisory Committee and Kane County 208 Area-wide Clean Water Planning.

Jim is a charter member and past president of the Illinois Groundwater Association. He was elected Chairman of the Blackberry Creek Watershed Resource Planning Committee and was instrumental in completing the Blackberry Creek Watershed Management Plan. Additionally, he was appointed to the Technical Advisory Committee of the Kane County Stormwater Management Committee.

More recently, Jim has been honored by being chosen Civil Engineer of the Year of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ISASCE), 2003-2004 and recipient of the Edmund Freidman Professional Recognition Award of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2004-2005.

Currently, Jim serves on the Board of Trustees of Waubonsee Community College and Blackberry Township. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma.
